On this day of lightning fast internet communication, your non-profit should be taking advantage of lightning fast donations. There are several resources for a non-profit to fundraise using the tools where the people are (think of the Little Mermaid, you also want to be where the people are), FaceBook, Google, and Amazon.
Did you know you can add a “donate” button to your page? How about adding a fundraising goal to your page? What about pledges? Have you considered being the birthday charity? What could you do with live video fundraising during pledge drives?
You can fundraise directly on Facebook and then encourage your followers to share your cause. You are engaging with your followers online and reaching new people, sharing your mission with those who may have not otherwise known of you.
Lately, have you seen the birthday charitable causes? Someone has a birthday and Facebook prompts them to select a charity for birthday donations in lieu of birthday gifts. I’ve done it, it’s great. I want the 100 friends that only know it’s my birthday because of Facebook to donate money to a cause. Even if they don’t, I have built awareness of a charity that means something to me.
If you are verified non profit on Facebook, you can take advantage of all of these tools. You can be that charity! “To make it easier for you and your community to raise money on Facebook, we’ve built tools to help you collect donations and enable supporters to fundraise for your nonprofit. Reach more supporters and engage your community. Facebook charges no fees on donations made to nonprofits on Facebook”.
I cannot get enough of Amazon, not unlike most people. When I need something I can’t find in my store, Amazon, a gift, Amazon, a piece of equipment, Amazon. Whether or not you view Amazon as a potential threat to the American way of consumerism in the future, you cannot doubt the vast array of tools and options they offer companies and consumers. One of these under used tools is AmazonSmile.
In 2018 Amazon reported a net income of $10.1 billion. AmazonSmile allowed for charities to take a part of these billions. By registering with AmazonSmile your company can receive 0.5% of all eligible purchases by your listeners. With the staggering amount people purchase from Amazon, that 0.5% can add up quickly.
There is no cost to you. The charity that I have selected has received $6,987.53 as of Feb 2019, although I have only generated $2.34, there are so many more people using it. As of the same date AmazonSmile has generated $124,651,081.04 donations.

“Alexa, donate $10 to the American Red Cross”. When I heard about this, I was excited. When disasters hit, I always donate to the Red Cross in some way, whether it’s blood or money. How awesome would it be, if during a pledge drive (or PSA), you can tell people to donate using Alexa, “Alexa, donate $10 to Divine Mercy Radio”?
Amazon uses the customer’s Amazon Pay account to send the donation. There are fees associated, but not hefty ones. With a $10 donation, you get $9.48. There are currently 244 charities on the Amazon charity list, https://pay.amazon.com/us/alexadonations.

Google One Today, while I have not seen it used much, is a resource. This is a free app for mobile devices that actually features a different nonprofit project every day.
While it may not sound exciting, remember there are people who spend their wealth donating to charitable causes all over the world. If you can get your ministry featured on this app, there may be someone who wants to support your cause. You are not doing much extra work and it is a donation resource to take advantage of.
At the beginning of 2019, Google kicked off their voice activated donation system. Their silent introduction to this affects all android/iOS phones, the Google Assistant app and Google Home Smart Speakers. The user will need to have their Google Pay accounts setup in order to donate and then they say “OK Google, make a donation”.
The process seems to still be in the beginning stages. There is an app to download, https://assistant.google.com/services/a/uid/000000a68c259742?hl=en-US, this allows Google Assistant to respond to the donation commands.
100% of the donations go to the charity. The only instructions I have found to be added to their list is through Google One application process.
