Simian DOES NOT WORK on Windows 10!
Bill Levitt, General Manager, Sacred Heart Radio, Cincinnati, OH
The following personal experience of an individual Simian user is offered as reference to those interested. It does not necessarily reflect the opinion of the staff or management at CRA. CRA does not endorse any product or company over another but provides a forum where individuals can express opinions and make informed decisions for themselves.
Recently, Sacred Heart Radio in Cincinnati moved into new studios. As part of the upgrade, we bought new computers with Windows 10 operating systems. Even though BSI’s website claims that Simian will work with a variety of Windows systems from XP to 10, after a rather frustrating month and numerous hours of tech support dealing with many of the same issues we thought had been resolved in previous sessions, it is clear that Simian DOES NOT WORK with Windows 10, and BSI knows it.
In addition, it appears there may be only one person available for tech support. Forget about an OFF-AIR emergency taking priority. The last emergency we called in took over four hours to get a call back. By that time we had made the decision to return to the Windows 7 computer we had be using for a few years now, and abandon all hope of using the new computer to run Simian.
Please be advised that this is only our experience, you may be more tech savvy than we are, but if BSI’s tech person couldn’t get it to work, I would not advise attempting it either.
