During the week of August 14, the Feast of St. Maximilian Kolbe, join in communion with others in Catholic radio to pray for God’s wisdom and protection on that day, and during the Masses the weekend prior.
The Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate (whose patron is St. Maximilian Kolbe, an ardent user of Catholic radio), will be adding their prayers to yours and those of your listeners.
Bishop Michael Sheridan, has recorded a Prayer for Catholic Radio:
Listen Herewhich may be aired on your local stations.
Additionally, Radio Santisimo Sacramento has provided a recording in Spanish:
Listen Here
Here are a few suggestions for celebrating the day:
Issue news releases to be distributed to area Catholic newspapers, secular newspapers, radio and television stations. These releases may contain:
Invite you Bishop, priests, religious, Catholic school students and the general public to an Open House at the station. Encourage people to tour the station facilities.
Encourage the Bishop, clergy and others to record a short promotional announcement touting the benefits of having a Catholic radio station in the area. Invite your clergy to pray for Catholic Radio at the Masses that previous weekend.
A template Appeal for Prayer is provided.
Encourage employees and volunteers to record short announcements talking about what they do for the station and why Catholic Radio is important to them.
Make speakers available to appeal to Catholic and non-Catholic groups and organizations.
Make announcements on the air promoting the Day of Prayer. Devote a whole program or segment of one of your local shows to discuss the whole concept of Catholic radio and the benefits it provides to the area.
Special thanks to Thomas Neal of WCVC AM 1330 in Tallahassee, FL who composed the prayer.
