With the recent Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 – which became effective January 1, 2018 – there’s concern that the increase in standard deduction will dis-incentivize donors who will no longer receive a tax deduction for their charitable giving. FirstCom Music has introduced a new licensing fee discount through their library for Catholic Radio talk-format stations.  Promoted as an economical alternative to a blanket statutory broadcast performance license, FirstCom is offering full material, synchronization, and performance license for the use of its sizable and expanding library. When considering whether to purchase a full statutory license (which includes ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, and indirectly, other licensed music), or licensing through FirstCom, it may be helpful to consider your station’s program content, and weigh the pros and cons.

In our last blog we skimmed the surface of HD radio in relation to FM broadcast.  Today I want to expand that discussion in the direction of acquiring an analog translator using an HD signal.

In the last two weeks, I’ve have four clients tell me that their Mix Fade settings have changed. Please follow these steps to help clear the issue: Disable the onboard soundcard Open the “Run” dialog box by pressing and holding the Windows key, then press the R key (“Run”). Type devmgmt.msc. Click on the arrow next to the “Sound, Video and Game Controllers” heading to expand its nodes. Right-click on your internal sound card and then select the “Disable” option from its context menu.

SoundHound gets looked over more often than not. Yet, it is the little brain of Event Builder. If SoundHound cannot see it, Simian cannot either. Here is an overview of the options in SoundHound, located on the OPTIONS tab.  Manual mode prevents the program from auto refreshing data. It helps if you are making a lot of data changes, and don’t want it to refresh until you are done.
