2017 National EAS Test

//2017 National EAS Test

2017 ETRS Registration is Now Open

Now available:

Step by Step instructions

Here are some important things to know:

  • The deadline to file Form One is August 28, 2017
  • ALL BROADCASTERS must participate including LPFMs
  • The National Test will occur at 2:20 PM EDT on September 27, 2017
  • Form Two, along with any changes to Form One, must be submitted by 11:59 PM EDT on September 27, 2017
  • Post-test data, Form Three, must be submitted on or before November 13, 2017
  • You must have a Username created within the FCC’s Commission Registration System (CORES), in order to access the ETRS Forms. This is a change from last year’s procedure when only the station’s FRN and password was needed.
  • A separate Form One must be completed for every EAS decoder/encoder
  • The FCC just released a proposal for a $66,000 fine of a non-commercial station for EAS related infractions.

Here’s how you can make sure your station is prepared:

  • Download and print the 2017 EAS Operating Handbook and place at normal duty stations
  • Make sure station operators review the handbook
  • Ensure your EAS equipment is in good, working condition in compliance with FCC rules
  • Upgrade equipment if necessary and update software and firmware to the latest versions
  • Review your 2016 ETRS Form One filing in order to identify any changes which you may need to note and enter on the 2017 Form One
  • Access the FCC Password for your FRN or contact your FCC attorney for that information
  • Check the synchronization of your EAS equipment with official time
